This role provides an opportunity to join a high-performing, high-growth tax practice while working with complex clients in one or more of the following sectors within our Financial Services practice: Asset Management (including private equity, venture capital, and hedge funds), Financial Institutions, Insurance, Specialty Finance and Brokerage and Trading.As a Tax Senior Manager for RSM you will be responsible for the following job duties which are focused around three core concepts (Technical & Quality Expertise, People & Talent Management, and Client Service/Business Development):Serve as a Performance Advisor, mentor or coach to one or more employees, which will include providing honest and timely performance feedbackTrain and develop staff membersProvide detailed review and analysis of tax returnsAssist the assurance team with tax provision reviews and prepare and review tax provision working papers for non-assurance clientsManage risk for the client and the firmWork on multiple complex issues while communicating in a client-centric mannerAdvise clients on a full spectrum of corporate tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and tax accountingReviewing research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standardsAssist with new business development, extended service and tax issue recognition for existing clientsRemain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax lawParticipate in recruitment of junior level staffSome travel may be requiredBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree – preferably in Accounting or related field of studyCPA DesignationWorking towards or completion of Masters of Tax or CPA In-depth Tax Program8+ years of experience in Public Accounting preferably in a tax focused roleAbility to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect necessary information for tax service requirementsExperience with one or more of the following: Corporations, Partnerships and TrustsEffective verbal and written communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act and technical aspects of tax compliance and accountingStrong technical skills in tax preparation, developing tax focus areasAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyExperience in dealing with international tax matters and tax review a plusAt RSM, we offer a competitive benefits and compensation package for all our people.
